Depression is a psychosomatic disorder. that depends on the entire physical and mental structure. Its effect on the nervous system, digestive system, endocrine glands. And due to obstruction in the function of these glands. we have to face many types of diseases. because our mind has the reverse effect on our body.  If we do not remain healthy with the mind. then we cannot remain healthy with the body.

That’s why we can activate and strengthen our nerves through yoga. so we will discuss one by one yoga poses for anxiety and depression. Such as Sethubandha Asana, Matsyasana and Paschimottanasana etc. Asana has been described to strengthen the digestive system, as well Shavasana, Balasana and Parvatasana etc.

To strengthen the nervous system and endocrine glands. Therefore yoga is a best way to increase Serotonin Production. Serotonin is the key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being, and happiness. Imbalance (lower ) in serotonin levels may influence mood in a way that leads to anxiety & depression

As always seen when the participants perform any yoga asana or form. hold for a certain amount of time with controlled  breaths(even for few seconds). and then come out of the asana. After few rounds, participants may notice. that although a pose was uncomfortable. initially, the sensation doesn’t last forever. 2. Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog) :-

Benefits- This asana strengthens core and nerves. muscles of the arms, legs, ankles and back are improve. expands the chest. Improves blood circulation between shoulder blades and spine. Precautions :- People with weak or injured shoulder or heel, any kind of inflammation of eyes and ears.Can be practiced gently by people suffering from high blood pressure.

3. Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose):- for anxiety and depression

Precautions- Strictly avoid if you have neck injury or are suffering from spondylitis.Pregnant women should avoid it, because this pose places a lot of pressure on the internal organs which can be harmful to the baby.

4. Child’s Pose (Balasana):- This pose gives you a feel of groudness & you feel calm easily.

Precautions:- Avoid if you have Diarrhea. or Pregnant or have knee injury.

5. Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana):-

Forward bends always help to relieve feelings of anxiety and stress. Be it a seating pose or standing pose like Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana).

Precautions:- Avoid the forward fold asana if you suffer from high blood pressure. Similarly, Pregnant women should take extra care or can perform under any guidance.

6. Matsyasana (Fish Pose) :- A heart opener pose.

This pose will increase the capacity of the lungs. Therefore resulting in a better breathing pattern and rhythm. which helps the mind to calm easily.

Precautions:- Avoid this pose if you have any neck injuries.Avoid it if, you have high blood pressure or a migraine.

This asana never disappoint you. It always relaxes your mind and calm you down easily. One should do all these asana with playing Gaytri Mantra. With my experience i can say, you will never fail to calm yourself down & overcome your anxiety or depression.

1. Prana Mudra :- Mudra for life.The tips of thumb, ring finger and little finger are joined together keeping the remaining fingers straight and relaxed.It makes body and mind stable.Mudra can be safely practised 15-20 minutes in a day. After that Once you feel more balanced and calm do analyse your situation.
